The world's first stamp has been proclaimed as one of the most elegant in design. This page displays a "reconstructed" sheet with one of each of the 240
letter combinations in its correct position as when printed. Clicking any letter pair above or any stamp below will enlarge it in a new window. Note the
differences in color, contrast and brightness among the stamps below, due in part because of scanner settings and the stamp printing itself as they came
from different sources on the web. Specialists can also "plate" each stamp, detecting which of the many printing plates the stamp originated from.
